  • A pattern is a series of numbers or figures that follows a rule

  • Multiples of 10, 100, and 1000 can be subtracted by using a pattern
    For example, subtract 700 and 500

    7 ones - 5 ones = 2 ones
    7 - 5 = 2
    Now use this answer to subtract:
    7 tens - 5 tens = 2 tens
    70 - 50 = 20
    7 hundreds - 5 hundreds = 2 hundreds
    700 - 500 = 200
