Spatial Reasoning

This concept introduces solid geometry, or geometry in three dimensions. We learn to identify, classify, and represent three dimensional figures, and learn about nets, views, and cross sections. Further, we learn to compute the surface areas and volumes of various three dimensional figures.
The concept is broken into smaller topics, which makes it easier and much more fun for students. The topics are listed below:-
Formulas in Three Dimensions
In this topic, we learn to apply Euler's formula to find the number of vertices, edges, and faces of polyhedron. We also learn to apply the distance and mid-point formulas in three dimensions.
Solid Geometry and Representation of Three Dimensional Figures
In this topic, we identify and classify three-dimensional figures according to their properties. We also analyze three-dimensional figures using nets and cross sections.
Surface Area: Prisms and Cylinders
In this topic, we learn to apply the formula for the surface area of prisms and cylinders. We also explore the effect of changing dimensions on surface area along with some real life applications.
Surface Area: Pyramids and Cones
In this topic, we learn to find the surface areas of pyramids and cones. We also explore the effect of changing dimensions on surface area along with some real life applications.
Volume of Prisms and Cylinders
In this topic, we learn and apply the formula for volume of a prism and volume of a cylinder.
