Common Factor and GCF

In this topic, we learn to find the GCF of two numbers and solve the related word problems.

Topic: Find GCF

  • GCF of two numbers is the greatest of their common factors

  • Whole numbers that are multiplied to find a product are called factors of that product

  • To find the GCF, list the factors of the given numbers and find the greatest of the common factors

  • E.g. Factors of 4 = 1, 2, 4; Factors of 8 = 1, 2, 4, 8
So, 4 is the GCF of 4 and 8

Topic: Other Applications of GCF
