  • The surface area of a solid is the sum of the areas of its surfaces

  • A net is the pattern made when the surface of a three-dimensional figure is laid out flat showing each face of the figure

  • Surface Area of a rectangular prism = 2 (Height x Width + Length x Width + Length x Height)

Topic: Surface Area - Pyramids

  • The surface area of a solid is the sum of the areas of all its surfaces

  • A net is the pattern made when the surface of a three-dimensional figure is laid out flat showing each face of the figure

  • The surface area of a pyramid equals the sum of the area of the base and the areas of the triangular faces

  • Area of the square base = Side x Side

  • Area of a triangle = 1/2 x Base x Height

Topic: Surface Area - Cylinders

  • The surface area of a solid is the sum of the areas of its surfaces

  • A net is the pattern made when the surface of a three-dimensional figure is laid out flat showing each face of the figure

  • The surface area of a cylinder equals sum of the area of its bases and area of its curved surface

  • To find the area of the curved surface of a cylinder, multiply its height by the circumference of the base

  • The circumference of each circular base is 2∏r, and the area is ∏r2
