Quotients with Zeros

In this topic, we learn to divide 3-digit numbers by 1-digit number, which give quotients with zeros.

Topic: Quotients with Zeros

  • Place a zero in the quotient, and bring down the next digit, if there is not enough to divide

  • To divide 414 by 4, we place the first digit in the hundreds place

  • 4 ÷ 4 = 1 R0. Bring down the 1 in the tens place

  • 1 ÷ 4 = 0 R1. Add a zero to the quotient and bring down 4 in the ones place

  • 14 ÷ 4 = 3 R2. The quotient is 103 and remainder is 2
